2017 Board of Directors Candidates

Each credit union member in good standing, age 18 or older, is entitled to vote in this election May 1, 2017 until June 2, 2017. All votes must be received by 11:59 p.m. on June 2, 2017. You may vote for up to two (2) candidates on a single ballot, and may only submit one (1) ballot. As a member/owner of the credit union, your vote is an important part of the credit union democratic process.

VOTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Whether voting online, by phone or requesting an on-demand paper ballot you will be asked for your login (FFCU account number) and password (last four digits of your social). Voting is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Board of Directors Candidates

John Warner:
John spent 24 years working at the University of New Mexico Anderson Schools of Management. He was the Director of the Management Center (MDC) for 12 years, Assistant Dean for External Affairs, and was a Professor who taught BBA and MBA courses in business, management, economics, organization behavior, and management of technology. After John retired from UNM, he worked as a Senior Project Manager for Technology Ventures Corp. (TVC), a nonprofit subsidiary of Lockheed Martin. John served three years in the US Army as a Special Agent (under cover), and was an Assistant Controller for First National Bank. John has been a consultant or volunteer for a variety of organizations such as Southwest Airlines, Department of Energy, Sandia Labs FCU, and United Way of Central NM to just name a few. John was also the President of the Board of Directors for both Chino FCU and the Silver City Museum Society.

Why are you seeking election to the Board of Directors?

I was President of the Chino FCU Board in Silver City when it was merged with FFCU. I have significant experience working with financial institutions and management. Just as importantly, I have the time and enthusiasm to contribute to the FFCU Board.

What do you feel is the most important duty of a director?

The most important duty of Board members is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of FFCU for our members.

Pablo Rael
CU Member for 48 years. Pablo has served 34 years on the Board, including terms as Chairman. In 1998, he was awarded the Ed Twibell Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by the Credit Union Association of New Mexico. Pablo currently manages a utility location service and is also an elected trustee for the Village of Los Ranchos. He holds a BS/BA degree in Business Administration.

Why are you seeking election to the Board of Directors?

I am seeking election to the Board of Directors to help provide continuity, stability and smart growth to our Credit Union.

What do you feel is the most important duty of a director?

The most important duty of a director is to support policies that will benefit all members. Savers and borrowers alike.

Loretta Montoya
CU Member for 26 years and has served on the Board since 2008. Loretta recently retired as Comptroller of a large organization, overseeing budget, payroll and accounting functions. She has nearly 30 years of higher education leadership, finance, accounting and strategic planning experience. She also teaches accounting and financial literacy as an adjunct instructor. Loretta holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration, a Masters of Public Administration and a Bachelor degree in Accounting.

Why are you seeking election to the Board of Directors?

As a member of the FFCU Board of Directors, I am committed to ensuring the strong, responsible and ethical governance of the credit union. Directors have the opportunity to share their business experience and management/leadership skills— in a team effort with the Board Chair and the President/CEO. Representing our credit union’s membership has been very fulfilling and I would appreciate the opportunity to continuing serving in this role.

What do you feel is the most important duty of a director?

The Board of Directors represents the membership and provides direction to the President/CEO and management team of the credit union. The Directors set the strategic direction, goals, and policies of the organization, while ensuring the financial stability and viability of the credit union in a competitive marketplace. Most importantly, the Board of Director ensures the credit union meets members’ needs in a manner that is safe, sound and complies with regulations.
