COVERDELL EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNTS

A Coverdell Education Savings Account (formerly the Education IRA) lets you contribute up to $2,000 per year per child/beneficiary until the beneficiary reaches the age of 18, provided you meet certain income criteria. Contributions are not tax deductible, but withdrawals are if they are used for qualified higher education expenses by the time the beneficiary reaches age 30.
